The Office of the Deputy Prime Minister hopes to improve communications between its regional offices and the public with the launch of 11 easy access websites.
The websites are made up of a national entry site, nine regional government office sites and the regional co-ordination unit (RCU) site.
Their content has been coordinated to make it easier for people to look across the regional sites and make comparisons. The national content has been standardised throughout, leaving the editors to concentrate on providing detailed local and regional information.
"We now have a set of websites with a uniform, corporate feel. They look like part of the same family and can talk to one another. These enhanced websites are a very powerful tool for direct communications and reputation management with our key partners and the public, " said Ian Jones, head of communications from the RCU.
The RCU is aiming to achieve WAI AA status on the entire network of sites and have had external auditors in to check the sites.
