A new web-based project has been set up by Northamptonshire County and Northampton Borough councils to help people to voice their opinions.

The two councils have created a joint online database of all the registers of public consultations.

This means local people can search through, read and comment on any consultations in the area, covering issues from education, road improvements or rubbish collection.

"The feedback and comments we receive through consulting with the public are crucial to our planning, as they inform our work and ensure that it best reflects the priorities and needs of people in Northamptonshire," commented leader of Northamptonshire County Council, Jim Harker.

This collaboration marks the first stage of a developing initiative to get more public involvement in local decision-making.

It is hoped the next stage will see the database expand and provide good examples of successful consultations that can be emulated throughout the region.
