People who are disabled, elderly or on low incomes can now go online to find local handymen and home improvement experts to help maintain their home.
The new searchable online directory has been created by the government's body of home improvement agencies (HIAs), a group of not for profit local organisations that aim to help vulnerable homeowners find accessible and cheap local services.
Launched at the same time as they got a new logo and strap line, it is hoped the re-branded HIAs will now enjoy a higher profile at a national level.
Visitors to the new directory can find details of local services, including gardeners and decorators, security and home safety, energy efficiency, repairs and home maintenance and information on available benefits, grants and loans.
