The East Sussex County Council website has emerged as one of the best local authority websites, according to a government report.
The site won joint first place for its availability and third place for the speed of its webpage downloads.
The council shared first place with Derbyshire, Dorset, Kent and Lincolnshire.
Council leader Peter Jones is pleased with the results of the report from the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister (ODPM), but said they didn't surprise him.
"The ODPM report confirms what we already know.
"Our site is one of the best local authority websites in the country and I believe it's also on a par with many of the top private sector websites."
This accolade is the latest in a long line of awards for the website, having already been accredited by the Royal National Institute for the Blind and winning the Internet Crystal Mark from the Plain English Campaign.
Mr Jones added that these improvements have all led to an increase in the number of visitors to the site, which has risen from 30,000 to over 60,000 since 2003.
