Local firms in Portsmouth are to reap the benefits of a new web-based project aimed at helping small businesses grow.
The "e-business builder" has been created by Portsmouth City Council in an effort to encourage better relations between large contractors and local smaller businesses.
It works by providing a web space where contractors can post their requirements and sub-contract opportunities.
Businesses can also register their services and available goods on an online directory.
Councillor Mike Hancock is optimistic that the scheme will have a positive contribution towards the long-term economic development of the city.
"It's an easy to use website, which will make it easier for many smaller businesses across the city to realise their ambitions, encourage job opportunities and develop trade," he explained to the website, egovmonitor.
The website can either be accessed directly or via the procurement pages on the Portsmouth City Council site.
