Yahoo has released a shortlist of websites ahead of its annual award scheme called Finds of the Year.
The search engine has selected a variety of sites across eight categories in its hunt to find the most innovative website of 2005.
The sub-sections of the competition include community, education, entertainment, innovative, celebrity, travel, quirky and TV.
Some of the short-listed websites include the site for the TV series, Lost, the community website, Gumtree and the Punch A Celeb site.
The category for the most innovative website also lists Futureme.com, a site which acts as an online time capsule allowing you to send an email to yourself or your friends that won't arrive until years later.
The NetArt website, which allows visitors create their own original piece of online artwork, is also up for nomination.
Members of the public can nominate their personal top websites by clicking on Yahoo's Finds of the Year site.
The winner of this vote will win the accolade of the People's Choice Find of the Year.
All the winners will be revealed on January 25th 2006.
