The British Council is hoping that Internet users will be able to access its services more effectively, by speeding up its web content delivery.
An international organisation which aims to promote educational opportunities within the UK and promote cross-cultural relations, the council operates in more than 110 countries and territories worldwide.
Officials within the organisation are confident that the technical improvements to the infrastructure will provide a better service for users, PublicTechnology.net reports.
The council's homepage is now seven to nine times faster, depending on location, it claims.
Tony Bright, deputy strategy manager for corporate IT at the British Council, said: "Today we have more than 1.5 million unique visitors per month to our website and we now have greater confidence that we can scale our service to millions more.
The British Council offers a range of services online, including information for foreign students on how to learn the English language, or study in the UK.
