Rhondda Cynon Taf (RCT) County Borough Council is hoping that improvements to accessibility will help disabled persons in the community.

The council has carried out a number of improvements to its website, also aiming to adhere with the guidelines created by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C).

Council officials state that the new-look site also boasts higher levels of usability for all service users.

Darcy Smith, web manager at RCT, told Ping Wales: "We had a number of comments through the website by members of the public pointing out shortcomings on its design."

"We took these comments on board, together with research into accessible web design by the W3C and RNIB [Royal National Institute for the Blind] to produce the new website."

The move comes as part of a new disability equality scheme currently being undertaken, which aims to ensure that disabled persons have equal access to all services - online and offline - as other users.
