Cheshire County Council has created a new website which aims to offer residents vital information about care homes.
Council officials are hoping that the new online portal will allow Internet users to select the right establishment for themselves or their family, with a database of all care homes in the authority available.
Users can search for the location and type of care required, before obtaining the full details of the facilities available.
Lynn Hardwick, executive member for adult social services, commented: "The new online directory is intended to assist the people of Cheshire, their families or carers who are making the decision of moving into a care home."
She added that the site has a high level of usability and will offer more accurate and timely information than traditional channels, as it is online.
Cheshire County Council recently announced that it would be investing £65 million to create five extra care villages in the region.
"Extra care housing delivers an exciting new vision of lifestyle for older people in the 21st century," remarked Ms Hardwick.
