Birmingham City Council has launched a new website in a bid to offer extra support for refugee children.

The online portal has been launched in the West Midlands, aiming to provide advice and support for individuals who work with refugee children.

Furthermore, council officials believe that the website can help to highlight the role of the National Refugee Integration Forum, a body which aims to unite the public and voluntary sectors, exploring new ways of improving integration.

Tony Howell, strategic director for children, young people and families at Birmingham council, said: "Birmingham values its history as a city of diversity and welcomes people from other cultures … and this new website will support the excellent work we are already doing."

Information available on the website includes examples of how work is being done in after-school clubs to help refugees adapt to life in the UK.

The site will also include examples of good practice in promoting the mental and physical health of refugees.
