The New Zealand government is hoping that a novel method can improve the accessibility of its services to disabled users.
A wiki format will by introduced by the State Services Commission (SSC), designed to create a more interactive way for service users to suggest potential improvements to provision, computerworld reports.
Government officials hope that the wiki format will promote discussion and suggestions around how accessibility standards can be implemented in various government agencies.
The new SSC guidelines will focus on improving the accessibility and usability of the government's online services, with a prototype wiki to be created later in the year.
Between October and December in 2006, the SSC will also support the Office for Disability Issues as it conducts an independent assessment of the accessibility of all government websites.
When designing its websites, the New Zealand government claims that it adhered to all three priority levels of the Web Accessibility Initiative guidelines.
