A new website has been created in a bid to help people with emotional or mental health problems to find help and support.

Launched in Rhondda Cynon Taf, the new site enables sufferers to find peer support 24 hours a day.

The launch coincides with World Mental Health Day, with statistics revealing that one-quarter of Britons will suffer some form of mental illness in their life.

GMTV's resident medical expert, Dr Hilary Jones, visited the council to celebrate the new online service.

"The website is a fabulous idea and as far as I know a unique one," he remarked.

"All the partners involved should be very proud of this unique creation and the help and support it offers."

In addition to a range of support, information and advice, the website features a chatroom for sufferers and also allows users to showcase their own poetry and artwork.

Councillor John David, cabinet member for health and adult services, commented: "Our aim is to tackle the stigma and discrimination that surrounds mental health and raise awareness of the services we have on offer locally."
