The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) has stated that the high levels of accessibility on its website are resulting in a more popular service.
Designed to comply with the World Wide Web Consortium's accessibility guidelines, the online portal aims to offer a range of information for people with disabilities.
Improvements to the site have meant that 172,243 visits were recorded in September 2006, with 2,507,385 pages viewed.
This is a steady increase in the 24 months since the upgrades were made, when 60,000 visits took place and 500,000 pages were viewed.
Miriam Wilkens, IPC media and communication director, said: "In the last two years, the IPC website has emerged as a very useful source for all interested in paralympic sport, the Paralympic Games and sport for persons with a disability in general.
"The numbers show incredible growth and we are really proud that people make use of the information provided."
The IPC website features a range of information and options, offering Internet users the opportunity to make a donation to the cause and opportunities for disabled persons to become involved in the games.
