The Department of Health (DH) has launched a new website which aims to provide support for mental health patients.
Government officials claim that the new online portal will offer a range of advice and information to those affected.
The new site has been launched as part of a new government strategy on the provision of mental health care, named Our Choices in Mental Health.
A spokesperson from the DH told E-Health Insider: "The website has been designed to offer as much practical support as possible to those patients who need it and summarise the changes launched today."
The spokesperson added that the new online offering could help suffers to "take control" of their illness, working with GPs and carers.
Lu Duhig, one of the carers who produced the new strategy, added that the need for "real choice" in the provision of mental health care is vital, given that one in four people will suffer from a mental illness each year.
