A new online resource has been created in a bid to help cultural institutions create effective websites.
The Department for Culture, Media and Sport has launched the new site, which government officials hope will enable cultural institutions such as museums and galleries to create a successful web presence, reported eGov monitor.
Tips will also be given on how to take advantage of search engine optimisation, analysing web statistics and the importance of accessibility.
Dubbed ProjectsETC, the online service will also allow cultural centres to share their information and experiences, while informative podcasts and case studies will be available.
Mike Saunders, project manager for ProjectsETC, said: "No-one knows all the answers - the digital world moves too fast for that.
"ProjectsETC is about using the Internet to spread best practice and to inspire people to look at interactive technologies in a creative way."
Case studies available online include the Tate galleries' creation of a special website designed to appeal to 13 to 25-year-old Internet users.
