Organisations can improve their service to clients with disabilities by offering improved accessibility solutions, one expert has claimed.

This could help businesses to "differentiate themselves in the market", according to a communications specialist at global telecoms provider Avaya.

Additionally, improving accessibility could help to widen the skilled workforce and offer opportunities to persons with disabilities, said Patricia Hume, global group vice president of small and medium business solutions at the company.

Debra Ruh, president and founder of TecAccess, added: "Accessibility solutions help organisations do that - achieving a positive return on investment by

widening their employee and customer base to include people with disabilities."

She added that improved accessibility features enhance usability for all users - not just those visual, hearing or physical impairments.

Search engine specialist Kimberly Krause Berg recently claimed in WebProNews that accessibility improvements could have a positive effect on an organisation's sales, as fewer potential customers would be "excluded".
