The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) has upgraded the accessibility of its website.

Accessibility for all drivers was regarded as a top priority for the government agency, which is now compliant with globally recognised standards, reports 24dash.com

The new website has been designed with the AAA standard of the World Wide Web Consortium's Web Content Accessibility Guidelines.

All of the site's pages are now compatible with screen readers - a form of assistive technology designed to help Internet users with special requirements, such as visual impairments.

Additionally, all of the accessibility upgrades are provided in both English and Welsh.

Some one million visitors log on to the Internet portal each week, which contains information for UK drivers and licence holders.

The DVLA website contains a wide variety of information for motorists, including medical rules and information for those learning to drive a vehicle.
