A new website is aiming to give youngsters in Shetland an online advice service.

The online portal is designed to give youngsters in the area access to vital information, with qualified professionals able to answer questions within 48 hours, reports the Shetland News.

Advice available on the Shetland Youth Information Service (SYIS) site includes local services and health information.

Additionally, news of local events is provided which may be relevant to users - such as specialist health services in the area.

Karen Smith, SYIS project manager, advised young people to log onto the site "for any health related questions and they get their answers within 48 hours".

"We wish to set up a similar, local service on our website and work in partnership with the Shetland health board," she added.

Funding for the website has been provided by the Tayside NHS board, with further efforts to secure assistance from Children in Need and the National Lottery Fund ongoing.
