An e-learning package is helping staff at the Department for Education and Skills get up to speed with new adoption legislation.

The Adoption and Children's Act 2002 came into force on the 30th of December 2005, targeting over 18,000 practitioners across the country.

Staff can now take advantage of the new e-learning programme, designed and developed by LINE communications group, PricewaterhouseCoopers and the British Association for Adoption & Fostering.

It consists of e-learning exercises, complemented with CDs and workbooks, and takes about 12 and half hours to complete.

Users can also tailor their study to the particular requirements of their job by inputting their job function into its profiling tool and taking relevant modules.

The package also acts as an online reference point that could be used after the training is completed, as it allows users to access relevant parts of the act that are applicable to the stage of their training via the web.
