A new online service from Lycos can help people find the answers to any question that they have been pondering on.

Ditching traditional methods of research, the new Lycos IQ site sees fellow members of the public provide the answers to their questioning peers.

Visitors to the site can submit their questions online and then other members can post their answers to the question.

Those who regularly provide good and reliable information are awarded a certain number of points, making it possible to display ranked answers and avoid people abusing the system.

If a question has previously been asked, a complete list of entered answers will be displayed in order of reliability as soon as the question has been submitted.

The service acts as an online community, and with increasing numbers of people accessing the site, the collection of pooled facts will rapidly increase.
