The UK is full of shoppers addicted to online retail therapy and has even surpassed shopaholics in the US, reveals a new report.

UK shoppers are spending an average of £70 per month online, which is almost £10 more that US web users, according to the online market research company ComScore Europe.

More British women have visited online retailers than in the US, with nine out ten saying they've shopped online, compared to eight out ten US females, according to Netimperative website.

The trend for men was similar, for although generally men shopped less online than women, British males still out-shopped their American counterparts.

The most popular types of retail sites in both countries were also found to vary with Americans primarily going online to book tickets on Ticketmaster, order computers from Dell or browse Yahoo's shopping facilities.

In the UK the Shopzilla websites were most popular, followed by the Littlewoods website, Dixons stores and Kelkoo sites.

Both the Amazon sites and eBay came in at similar levels of popularity in both countries.
