Farmers can now access information on how the government is tackling rural affairs online, via a streamlined Internet portal.
The Department for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra), has launched the new web-based service aimed at providing accessible updates for farmers on relevant government legislation.
It claims it could save the agricultural industry up to £28 million every year by streamlining and simplifying the information farmers require.
The service has been called the Whole Farm Approach and it has been welcomed by the National Farmers' Union (NFU).
Andrew Clark from the NFU said that farmers could see a reduction in the required number of compliance visits if they are deemed as low risk due to their use of the online facility.
The service will also help farmers avoid breaking certain regulations that they may not have been previously adequately informed about.
