A new website has been launched to help further improve standards of interpreting for deaf and hard of hearing people.

It aims to ensure professional development resources are accessible to all interpreters, including exercises to develop skills and templates to record their development.

The site has been developed by the Royal National Institute for the Deaf (RNID) to encourage an atmosphere of open learning and for sign language interpreters to share examples of best practice.

"RNID is proud to be part of this project and we look forward to delivering a website which meets the varied needs of interpreters as they support deaf people across the country," commented John Low, chief executive of RNID.

Once the site is up and running it is hoped that eventually the website will allow individuals to keep an online portfolio of their professional development, accessible through the site.
