Many Staffordshire residents and businesses are now using the Internet to pay for various council services.
Staffordshire County Council is heralding its efforts to improve the choice of payment methods a success, as hundreds of people are opting to pay their council tax or bills via the website or on the phone.
Since the new online facility and phone systems were set up last autumn, over half a million pounds worth of bills have been paid through these channels.
In just the last month over 1,000 people have been using the new payment methods.
County councillor Mick Clarke says that the new services are helping to ensure that local residents can pay bills more conveniently.
"Basically anyone who has had a service and received a bill can pay online or via the new phone system which make it much easier, far more efficient and the turnaround far quicker," he said, as reported by the website egovmonitor.
"We are extremely hopeful that more and more people will use these new facilities in the future," he concluded.
