A broadband package has been introduced to help elderly people improve their confidence using the high speed Internet connection.
It includes a customer support telephone line run by information technology experts aged over 50 that will give straightforward advice on how to best use broadband and deal with problems that occur.
Charity Help the Aged teamed up with the Help Broadband firm to launch the service, aimed at people aged 50 or over, and it will receive a one-off fee for each person that signs up, with all funds raised to be spent on the charity's work.
Help the Aged spokeswoman Ellie Stanton said: "The idea was that the support service would be something that our target market would find accessible. They will be talking to people who speak their language."
The customer support telephone line will be available from 09:00 to 20:00 between Monday to Friday and from 10:00 to 14:00 at weekends.
