The government's Directgov website, operated by the Central Office of Information (COI), has invited agencies from its rosters to examine its effectiveness.
These agencies, which include Corporate Edge, Enterprise IG and Rufus Leonard, will carry out an online review and a brand consultancy of the website.
Directgov's Internet service brings together information and services from across government departments to one portal, in order to make it easier for people to access them and the review and consultancy aims to identify areas of improvement.
Alex Butler, Directgov's strategy and marketing director, commented: "In response to new policies around government websites and research into UK online behaviours and preferences, Directgov will embark on this strategic review.
"Our aim is to develop and sustain a strong customer focused brand enabling access to public services online."
