A new portal that acts as a gateway to simple and reliable health information has been launched by the European Commission.
The online portal has been set up after it was found that last year almost a third of the adult European population went online to search for health information. However, many sites found while browsing the web can be unreliable and difficult to understand.
With this new web facility, people can search for information on anything from babies' heath to infectious diseases and bio-terrorism and be sure that the information they find will as accurate and easy to follow as possible.
It allows access to over 40,000 links to trustworthy sites and is available in all 20 official EU languages, opening up the information to over 1.5 billion people across the world.
The portal has a number of overarching aims, one being that it wants to see more people taking responsibility for their own health and work on their own ways of improving their well-being and safeguarding against future illness.
