The Cabinet Office and the TUC have launched a web-based toolkit to improve the contribution made by employees in the public sector to the improvement of public services.

This website programme, called Drive For Change, aims to bring public sector managers and employees and union representatives together to develop ideas, then systems and practices to better the services provided.

It is divided into three sections. The first is self assessment so that each group knows what the current situation is and what needs to be done to improve coordination.

The drivers for change section details the five key drivers that support trade union and employee engagement in public service delivery and gives best practice examples from other organisations on this issue.

In addition, the focused action planning section provides advice on how the groups should go about planning the improvements to be made to services.

Speaking at the launch, minister for social exclusion Hilary Armstrong said: "This launch is testament to what can be achieved when we work together to realise our goals. We know that employee engagement is key to successful public service improvement."
