Since it was launched in March, more than 3,500 payments have been made through Peterborough City Council's e-payments system.
Residents and people working in the city can go online or ring a freephone number to pay for council tax, penalty charge notices, sundry debts, housing benefit overpayments and business rates.
So far, 950 Internet payments have been made with others through the telephone, either speaking to council staff or using an automated service.
Councillor Matthew Dalton, cabinet member for customer focus and communications, is pleased with the current take-up of the service, which enables people to make payments 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
He said: "I am delighted with the success of Peterborough Direct and the e-payments service. It shows that Peterborough City Council customers are continuing to embrace more flexible, efficient methods of paying for council services."
