Culture vultures may be pleased to know that the Tate Modern has revamped its online gallery, in a bid to increase accessibility online for art lovers.

The gallery's website now features a virtual tour of the establishment, including a feature where potential visitors can plan their route through the gallery in advance.

In addition, a variety of educational features have been introduced to the site, including a timeline of the gallery's works in a historical context.

Andrew Marr, the host of the BBC's Sunday AM and a member of the Tate's council launched the overhauled site at Tate Modern, CNET reports.

"I hope this gets used in bedrooms and coffee bars and kitchen tables around the country and around the world," he said.

Internet information on the Tate Modern will not only be available in the art fan's home, but also on touch-screen panels throughout the gallery.

The section of the gallery's website which contains the educational information also features an A-Z of all artists present, along with a feature which displays the area of the map where their works is held.
