The government recently stated that it is to introduce proposals to regulate the content of adverts promoting gambling.
This follows the US House of Representatives passing a bill to block Internet gambling, despite eight million US users using the web to place bets.
Consumers both in the UK and the US have viewed the greater accessibility provided by the Internet as a way to increase their sports betting options.
As a result, companies such as BetonSports have seen their number of registered users swell to 1.2 million.
And these are just some of the enterprises which have criticised the US government for attempting to clamp down on gambling Internet accessibility.
Radley Balko, policy analyst at the Cato Institute, which examines public policy, comments: "It's a moral crusade."
He added: "These guys have a personal opposition to gambling and they want to impose that on the rest of the country."
