The number of consumers who are using the Internet to print digitally taken photographs is on the increase, according to research from InfoTrends.
Mette Eriksen, a consultant for the market research firm, said that although many photographers were loyal to home printing methods, an increasing awareness of online facilities is seeing people opt for Internet-based providers.
"We discovered that preferred print location depends on the size of the print job - the home is best suited for printing a few photos, while large jobs are typically sourced to retailers or online photo services."
Earlier this year, InfoTrends released research that showed photo service businesses operating on the Internet were experiencing strong year-on-year growth.
Speaking at the time, Jill Aldort, a senior consultant at the market research firm, said that in order to maintain this growth, online photo service providers need to invest in a range of new technologies, including photo and video sharing.
