Top UK fashion designers are aiming to use the Internet, stating that the online shopping boom will improve sales and brand awareness.

The designers also say that they would prefer the direct access to customers, rather than relying on intermediaries and buyers such as department stores.

Entrepreneur Patrick McMurray is aiming to build a team of designers and market their British made, British designed products direct to customer in their homes.

McMurray commented: "More people are buying over the internet and they want quality goods.

"They are attracted to the cachet of products that are genuinely designed and made in Britain."

He added that the Internet is a growing market which is increasing by hundreds of millions of pounds a year and consumers are used to quality products online.

Furthermore, upmarket designers are eager to sell online, he states.

Mr McMurray's website is currently under development and will be launched late in summer 2006.
