A new website has been designed, which creators say can help to tackle bullying in schools.

The programme, named Bully Beater, is specifically designed for youngsters to benefit from its usability.

Bully Beater lists pupils at a school alphabetically and invites those suffering to rank the worst offenders in their school.

This information is then supplied to a carefully selected number of teachers, who can make judgements and help those being bullied.

Ralph McKay, the service's creator, said that he had received a lot of interest from schools and he expected thousands to use it within the next year, the BBC reports.

Mr McKay said: "Most students know who the school bullies are, even if they haven't been victims themselves."

However, most children do not want to report the incidents because of an "atmosphere of intimidation", but he hoped the system would help eradicate this.

"It won't stop bullying totally but it makes it far easier for teachers to get the information they need," he concluded.

A telephone service to prevent bullying has been installed in a school recently, to allow youngsters to anonymously text their concerns.
