The Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre (CEOP) is introducing new measures to keep Internet users safe.

In partnership with Microsoft, live links will be available on Messenger for Internet users to contact the CEOP, to report incidents of abuse directly to online police services.

The system will allow young people and adults to report any suspicious behaviour and inappropriate content they have encountered online.

Officers will then provide the user with information on how to seize online discussions and capture information, which can then be used to "track down" the offender, its creators assert.

Jim Gamble, chief executive of the CEOP centre and chair of the Virtual Global Taskforce (VGT), commented: "What Microsoft and the CEOP are doing today is saying is enough is enough.

"Behind the report abuse button will sit police and intelligence officers who have been specially trained to tackle child sex abuse."

Furthermore, web users can gain access to the VGT, an international alliance of law enforcement bodies, a body which aims to make the Internet safe for children and young people.
