North Somerset Council aims to help residents by improving features such as accessibility and usability of its website.
The council states that the usability and accessibility of its website are key to helping users to access the range of services available online.
A clearer design, layout and an improved search facility, in addition to improved download speeds are the fruit of the council's efforts and financial investment, officials state.
Councillor Alan Cotton, North Somerset Council's executive member with responsibility for the website, commented: "We will build on this success and develop the website further to ensure that people in North Somerset and beyond can access a greater range of services online."
Services available to residents over the Internet include council tax payment, planning applications and an interactive map where users can find their nearest services.
The website also features a range of online tutorials, designed to help less computer-savvy users navigate the pages.
