GAIN (Getting accessible information now) has launched a new website designed to help blind and visually impaired users.

The lead partner on the project was Royal National Institute for the Blind (RNIB) Cymru, receiving a £150,000 grant from the Big Lottery Fund's Voluntary and Community Sector Program.

GAIN's website is designed to have a high standard of web accessibility, while the purpose of the service is to provide non-digital and digital accessibility information to businesses and organisations.

Meeting the Web Accessibility Initiative's Triple A criteria, the site is actually designed to provide in excess of these standards.

The service has also been designed to allow users to manage the site through a bespoke content management system (CMS), with the ability to access and use the CMS with their assisted technology.

Stuart Ball, accessible information forum co-ordinator, RNIB Cymru, commented "The launch will give people the opportunity to find out about accessible information and help them comply with the Disability Discrimination Act 1995 and the Welsh Language Act 1993."
