Lincolnshire County Council has become the world's first government website to provide podcasts to residents.
Information on the latest news, events and opportunities will be available on the website, automatically downloading audio to the users' media players when online.
Lincolnshire County Council' website, LCC connects, received just under 115,000 visits in July, with more than 110,000 searching for careers and opportunities online.
Users can now keep up to date with the council's updates via their PC, PDA, mp3 player or mobile phone from the comfort of their own homes.
Deputy leader, Councillor Peter Robinson, commented: "This is a significant step forward for our council.
"I hope this new technology will add another useful communication channel with the people of Lincolnshire."
The sound files available to users are converted from a text-based feed currently available on the website and are read by the media player software.
