Manchester City Council claims that digital accessibility for disabled users is vital for its new website.

The council states its aim of offering services for all and social inclusiveness without discrimination are "key" factors in plans to improve their website.

Improving web accessibility features will ensure that users are "able to view a web page the way they wish to view it with the equipment that they have available, avoiding negative experiences that result in losing repeat visits".

Furthermore, officials state that by integrating accessibility into the council's web development strategy will create pages which "work effectively for more people on more situations", which will in turn increase the number of users.

The council created a design brief for its website improvement, which also lists usability as a critical concern for development.

Ensuring that the website is "useful, usable, used" will create a good customer experience which is crucial for the website's success, the brief states.
