A new website has been launched which aims to help those with special dietary requirements plan their meals.

The service, NutriPlanIT, has been designed by a company which specialises in providing nutritional information to the food industry.

NutriPlanIT allows Internet users to plan their meal, ensuring that any special dietary requirements they have are met.

Its creators hope that the website will also prove to be a useful tool for staff in nursing homes and schools to get the right information regarding important nutritional requirements.

Ian Hayes, the IT expert behind the service, told the Yorkshire Post: "According to the FSA, 44 per cent of people distrust the information provided on food packaging.

"What NutriPlanIT does is to give control back to the consumer or food professional, so they can plan their dietary requirements accurately."

Many conditions require individuals to be aware of their own dietary requirements, such as allergies or diabetes.
