A new website has been launched to help companies count the cost of employee sickness absence.
The service will help businesses understand the impact that sickness absence can have in terms of performance, productivity and efficiency, along with the effect on other employees.
Bupa Health Insurance, the website's creators, cites figures from the Confederation of Business and Industry which indicate sickness absence is currently costing UK companies £13 billion per year, with 164 milion working days lost.
Ann Greenwood, director of business markets for Bupa Health Insurance, comments: "This simple device provides, at the touch of a button, an instant quote tailored to any organisation whatever shape or size.
"The figures will be a shock to many companies but businesses can take preventative action and private health cover can be a major step towards achieving a cleaner financial bill of health."
The website also features a range of advice on healthy living for workers, in addition to tips on controlling stress in the workplace.
