Parents could have their worries eased, as they are now able to use the Internet to apply for school places across the country.
All 150 local education authorities will now be able to handle online applications, support and information.
Parents will also be able to email the authority to query the applications process, with new electronic channels of communication available.
Officials hope that the online system will make it easier for parents to secure a school place, while the stresses of relying on the postal system and lengthy waits have been removed.
Herefordshire County Council led the e-Admissions National Project, with 58 per cent of parents opting to use the service in the region last year.
Local authorities have also been set targets to ensure that parents are using the service, with at least five per cent of applications expected online, rising to ten per cent in the second year.
