Careers Scotland is aiming to reach "every community" by redesigning its website to incorporate accessibility standards.

The majority of the site complies with the AA level of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, while pages are designed to function with screen readers and offer a "listen to this page" service, which does not require specialised software.

Additionally, the web designers note that they welcome feedback from users and intend to remove the remaining barriers to full compliance with accessibility standards.

Christina Allon, director of Careers Scotland, comments: "We aim to reach into every community to provide resources that everyone can access to help them plan their career ... it can be accessed anywhere, at any time and is quick and simple to use."

The website, which is provided via the Scottish Enterprise development agency, attracts more than 60,000 visitors every month and has a registered user base of 40,000.
