Technology and e-learning tools can help to change the face of education, according to one government official.
Bill Rammell, minister for lifelong learning, further and higher education, claims that technological advances have the potential to offer greater educational opportunities to learners and help colleges to boost efficiency and improve communication.
"Our aim is to put learners and employers at [the] heart of the FE [further education] system, to give people the knowledge, skills and attitude they need for a successful and rewarding life," remarks Mr Rammell.
The minister made the comments at an educational innovation conference hosted by the Centre for Excellence in Leadership (CEL), which was also attended by a number of other officials.
Lynne Sedgemore, chief executive of the CEL, added that e-learning and new technology had the capacity to improve provision standards and the success of learners.
In spring 2007, the CEL is set to hold a number of additional seminars, designed to introduce new e-learning methods to leaders.
