A new scheme has been designed in a bid to improve farmers' access to technology and the Internet.
The new initiative, titled Farm Connections, will provide beef farmers with training, computing equipment and software in a bid to help them streamline their business needs, reports Farming UK.
Additionally, scheme organiser Sainsbury's hopes that the move will also better enable farmers to compete in the e-commerce market - with enhanced knowledge of web-based marketing.
Martin Grantley Smith, general manager of the Red Meat Industry Forum (RMIF), comments: "For the first time some beef producers will now be able to use technology to help them see beyond the farm gate and take a whole chain approach to their businesses."
According to the RMIF, the red meat and livestock industry is increasingly facing global challenges and must take steps in order to keep the industry competitive.
