It has become tradition that when a Next sale begins, bargain hunters flock to the high street stores, however this enthusiasm is now turning to Next’s online store.

Enthusiasm for grabbing a bargain online has grown over the last two years, at the beginning of the summer Next saw visitor numbers that were higher than those of Tesco and Argos.

Ahead of the Next sale in July, traffic to the Next website had already doubled from the previous week as UK customers headed online. The share of online searches for ‘next sale’ had also increased 40% year-on-year and have almost doubled over the past two years.

Many online stores are holding sales, however searches for the Next sale overshadowed those for other retailers. The second most searched for sale was the ‘boden sale’, followed by ‘marks and spencer sale’.
