On Thursday 13 January British Red Cross launched a website with a total new look, more up-to-date design and an improved structure.

Emma Bott, e-communications manager, has been leading the redesign project over the past six months. She said:

As well as giving the website a cleaner and more modern design, we wanted to make it more user friendly, which meant completely overhauling the structure. Popular sections such as first aid, volunteering and donations have been given greater prominence and the site is now fully accessible to everyone.

The more observant users will notice new features such as video clips and a postcode search, which allows visitors to search for branches, shops, and news stories in their area.

Phil Talbot, director of communications, said:

The growing importance of e-communications means that it is essential for us to have a cutting edge website. The clear and dynamic image presented by the site supports and demonstrates the way we want to engage with all our audiences in the future.
