Sky has stated that it has connected a new customer to its broadband network every 40 seconds since launching the service back in July 2006. Sky matched the 'free' offers that Orange and the Carphone Warehouse were pushing at the same time, but only allowing existing Sky TV customers to sign up, Sky had persuaded 716,000 to subscribe within a year and now the company has announced that its customer base now numbers more than one million.
