Web start-ups and online ad companies are leading the way for the web according to this year’s Sunday Times Tech Track 100, published yesterday.
Holiday Rooms Direct topped the league table. The Doncaster based online travel agency increasing its sales from £184,000 to just under £7m in two years.
Buy.at, ranked number 9, heads a string of online marketing and web design players. Other companies in the top ten include DVD rental firm Lovefilm and local search firm The Best Of.
The league table is another sign that the e-commerce and digital ad boom is paying off for UK businesses not just pure-play web firms but also multi-channel companies that wouldn’t have qualified for the list.
Not surprisingly both mobile companies and online retailers figure prominently within the table.
