World Usability Day was founded two years ago with the aim to improve the awareness of the need to make products and services easier to access and intuitive to use.
World Usability Day 2006 was incredibly successful. With the use of webcasts online at the World Usability Day website and 225 events in 175 cities in 35 countries 40,000 attendees and volunteers addressed global issues such as healthcare education and government.
This year’s events started on 13th June at the Usability Professionals Association International Conference in Austin Texas. The programme entitled “Healthcare Usability in the Trenches” featured Jason Rossback, Zoll Data Systems, Theo Mandel, Ph.D, Interface Design and Development, LLC, Janine Purcell from the Veterans Health Administration and Ed Israelski from Abbott.
The goals for 2007 include growing the number, size and types of the events worldwide. This is to be achieved by adding more events that will provide a learning experience about usability issues. This in will allow more people have the opportunity to be involved and learn the importance of usability.
